General QuestionsHow do I get a Marriage
License?
Precious Maui Weddings arranges your Marriage License appointment for you. There is no blood testing required or waiting period. Your marriage license fee is a cash fee of $70 paid directly to the licensing agent. All you will need is a valid ID, such as a driver's license. You are then issued your license by the State licensing agent and this is the document you must bring with you on the day of your wedding. Back to Top Public Beach or Private Location? If you are concerned about privacy you may want to consider a private location, such as a tropical garden, hotel grounds or even private estates. Although public beaches are open to the public and there is always the possibility of other weddings occurring at the same time. We do our best to work together with everyone to make sure we have a nice suitable space for your ceremony on the beach. Some of the private locations and most all hotels are oceanfront and this will allow you to take more photos on the beach after your ceremony. Most of the hotel locations usually offer a covered area incase of inclement weather. The hotels also have beautiful manicured gardens that will offer a nice variety for your photos. If you are concerned about privacy, then it might be best to consider a private location for your ceremony. Back to Top Do you work with hotels? Yes, we do work with most hotels here on Maui that provide wedding sites and work really well with them. We use allot of the same vendors the hotel uses and are able to provide these services at much lower prices. Back to Top Weddings on a week day or weekend? If you are having your wedding ceremony on a public beach you may want to consider a week day vs. a weekend. On the weekends the beaches will have a bit more people as our local residents as well as visitors will like to enjoy the beaches then. Back to Top What can I do to help make sure things go smoothly? Please make sure that you are on time to your wedding! The sun will set pretty fast here in Hawaii. Once the sun goes down, there will not be enough light for the photographer or videographer to get the beautiful shots they need for you. You don't want to be rushed in order to get the shots you want. All the planning that you've done will fall into place. Now, you can relax! Your wedding day is finally here! Enjoy each other and the moment you've both been waiting for - Let Precious Maui Weddings take care of all the details. Back to Top Photography-Related QuestionsWhat time of day is best
for photos?
Usually the best time of day is late afternoon closer to sunset. This is when the lighting is most suitable. It will be a little cooler & more comfortable for you and your guests as well. The worst time of day is between 11:00am to 2:30 pm when the sun is directly overhead. This time of day the lighting will be harsh and will not provide the best images. Also, the temperature is hotter and humid during the mid day. Back to Top Do you offer color enhancement of photo images? Our photographers do quality correct the images they produce. There are photographers who do drastic color enhancements to alter the natural color of the scenery here in Hawaii. Precious Maui Weddings prefers the natural colors as photographed. If this is your preference to have the colors of your photos enhanced (example: the sky or ocean to be more blue) you can inquire with the photographer if this service can be provided. Please inquire with your coordinator or if booking directly with a photographer if photos are color enhanced. Back to Top Will the photographer only shoot the amount of photos listed in my package? The Photographer will shoot well over 36 photos. The amount of all photos shot will depend on the amount time the Photographer has with you and your family/friends that may be in attendance. The amount of photographs taken will be affected by the cooperation of everyone present and a timely arrival by you and your guests. Knowing this, the photographer will take many photos of you, your guests/family, romantic portraits to insure you get as many different poses and shots to choose from . This applies to all photo packages - 36 photos is just given as an example. Back to Top How much time should I allow and what package should I choose? This will depend on the number of people attending - the more guests you have the more time the photographer will need to spend with you and your guests, so a little larger package would be more suitable. If you chose a smaller package of the minimum 24 images you could not effectively cover the family or group photos. If your wedding includes, cake, toast, dove or butterfly release, limo arrival, video, etc. the longer amount of time the photographer will need to spend with you and a larger photo package would be suggested. Back to Top Do you have any special shots you'd like captured? It would be best to send your list of requested shots to Precious Maui Weddings and we will give it to your photographer. It is helpful for the photographer to review your photo list prior to the wedding this way he/she can make sure there is enough time to get the shots you want in the amount of time allowed. It would be a good idea to provide this list to someone in your party who knows everyone and can assist in getting everyone together for the particular shots. Back to Top I would like to have some black & white photos, is this possible? Yes, we can add some black and white prints to your existing package if you wish. The photographer will usually charge an additional fee to add black & whites. Back to Top When will my photos be ready? This will vary between photographers because photographer may use different labs to process your film. Once your film is processed our photographers will quality review your pictures to make sure that it meets their standards of quality and proper exposure. If you are still on the island when your photos are ready, your photographer will arrange a time to meet with you to show you all of the photos so you may make your selection. If you are no longer on the island then the photographer will usually send them to you via mail and will correspond with you via email or phone. Your photographer will go over all these options with you, usually at the end of your session. Back to Top Would I be able to purchase the negatives? Most of our photographers shoot digital format and will sell their Hi Res images on CD at a reasonable price (prices will vary between each photographer.) Please note that most skilled, professional medium format and photojournalistic photographers will more than likely not sell their negatives. This is because these photographers are highly experienced professionals and would prefer to have control of who processes their original work. The quality of the finished product is significantly affected by the labs and the people who processes the photos. Therefore, risking their reputation with the possibility of having their work printed somewhere where it could poorly reflect their work. Back to Top |
