How do I get a Marriage License?

Precious Maui Weddings will arrange the appointment for your Marriage License. We have no waiting period or blood testing requirements. Public beach or private location?

If you are concerned about privacy you may want to consider a private location, such as a tropical garden or hotel grounds. Public beaches are open to the public and there is always the possibility of other weddings occurring at the same time. We do our best to work together with everyone to make sure we have a nice suitable space for your ceremony on the beach. Some of the private locations and most all hotels are oceanfront and this will allow you to take more photos on the beach after your ceremony. Most of the hotel locations usually offer a covered area in case of inclement weather. The hotels also have beautiful manicured gardens that will offer a nice variety for your photos. If you are concerned about privacy, then it might be best to consider a private location for your ceremony.

Do you work with hotels?

Yes, we do work with most hotels here on Maui that provide wedding sites and work really well with them. We use a lot of the same vendors the hotel uses and are able to provide these services at much lower prices.

Weddings on a weekday or weekend?

When considering a public beach for your Maui wedding ceremony, try to choose a weekday as opposed to a weekend as there are less people using the beaches during the week.

What can I do to help my Maui wedding go smoothly?

Keeping your wedding party on time is the number one key to a smooth Maui wedding. Timing of the sunset is critical to great wedding photography and the sun sets pretty fast. Loss of light will affect your professional photographer's ability to get all the top quality photos you would like.

All the planning that you've done will fall into place. Now, you can relax! Your wedding day is finally here! Enjoy each other and the moment you've both been waiting for — Let Precious Maui Weddings take care of all the details.

Photography-Related Questions

What time of day is best for photos?

Usually the best time of day is late afternoon closer to sunset. This is when the lighting is most suitable. It will be a little cooler & more comfortable for you and your guests as well. The worst time of day is between 11:00am to 2:30pm when the sun is directly overhead. This time of day the lighting will be harsh and will not provide the best images. Also, the temperature is hotter and humid during the mid day.

Do you offer color enhancement of photo images?

If your preference includes having the colors enhanced in your Maui wedding photographs (example: bluer ocean or sky) we would ask that you contact the photographer to inquire if photo enhancing services are available and make arrangements with your professional wedding photographer directly.

How many photographs will be taken? Will the photographer only shoot the amount of photos listed in my package?

Your Professional Maui Wedding Photographer will take more than the 24–48 photos included in your wedding package. How many photographs taken depends on lighting and time with you and the wedding party. The number of photographs taken will be affected by the cooperation of everyone present. Knowing this, the photographer will take many photos of you, your guests/family, romantic portraits to insure you get many different poses and shots to choose from. See the Wedding Packages page for specifics on each package.

How much time should I allow and what package should I choose?

In general the bigger the wedding party the more time needs to be allotted for wedding photographs. We would suggest a larger photography package if you have a larger wedding planned. Remember it will take time to photograph guests, wedding cake, limo arrival, toast and dove release.

I have special shots I'd like captured, is this possible?

If you have special requests of our photographers it would be best to have these requests in writing prior to your Maui Wedding so we can make sure your professional wedding photographer has your photographic requests with a clear understanding of your wishes. It would also be a great idea that someone in your wedding party is provided your photo request list as well so special attendees can be identified easier by the photographer. We want your wedding photography to be picture perfect.

When will my photos be ready?

This will vary between photographers. Once your film/digital images are processed, our photographers will quality review your pictures to make sure that they meet their standards of quality and proper exposure. If you are still on the island when your photos are ready, your photographer will arrange a time to meet with you to show you all of the photos so you may make your selection. If you are no longer on the island then the photographer will usually send them to you via mail and will correspond with you via email or phone. Your photographer will go over all these options with you, usually at the end of your session.

Would I be able to purchase the digital files or negatives?

Most of our photographers shoot digital format and will sell their Hi Res images on CD at a reasonable price (prices will vary between each photographer). Please note that most skilled, professional medium format and photojournalistic photographers will more than likely not sell their negatives. This is because these photographers are highly experienced professionals and would prefer to have control of who processes their original work. The quality of the finished product is significantly affected by the labs and the people who processes the photos. Therefore, risking their reputation with the possibility of having their work printed somewhere where it could poorly reflect their work.

Maui wedding testimonial

Andrea & Jay

NOVEMBER 29, 2016

My husband and I wed at Kapalua Bay Beach on November 29, 2016, and it couldn't have turned out more perfect thanks to Deanne's vision to make our special day as memorable as we could have hoped for. We traveled from New York City to Maui for our ceremony/honeymoon and we just knew from our initial conversation with Deanne over the phone, while planning our wedding, how detail oriented she is. Not a single aspect was overlooked and all our requests were met. She truly makes your vision come to life and knows exactly how to handle your concerns gracefully and respectfully. In addition to Deanne, our minister Adam Gomes, our photographer Jennifer Joswick (Marbelle), and even our limo driver "Toe" were part of what made our day so much more fun. Individually, they all brought positive, genuine charisma and energy that blended into the whole ritual, manifesting a joyous wedding experience.

Thank you to all and especially to Deanne at Precious Maui Weddings.
